If the
images on our site look blurry and pixilated, it is probably a
setting in your AOL browser that needs to be changed. AOL
provides additional compression on every image you view on the
Internet. This makes the pictures load faster, but degrades the
image quality. If you would like to improve the image quality
and increase the page load time, please follow the steps below.
Please note however, this setting is only adjustable in Version
5.0 and higher. Earlier versions cannot be modified.
1. With
AOL running, click on "MY AOL", and go to
"PREFERENCES"
2. In preferences, choose "WWW"
3. In the www window, please choose the end tab named "WEB
GRAPHICS"
4. In web graphics, deselect the box "USE COMPRESSED
GRAPHICS"
5. Now, click the first tab named "GENERAL"
6. Click the button named "CLEAR HISTORY" (this might
take some time)
7. Now click the button named "DELETE FILES" (this
might take some time)
8. Lastly, quit AOL and restart it.
After
performing these steps you will find all images on the Internet
are clearer, but the pages that contain images take longer to
load. If you decide you'd rather have quick downloads, than
repeat steps 1-4 above, and select the "USE COMPRESSED
GRAPHICS" box.
